| Inhalte | Consistent and increasing popularity from the late 17th century until today? Who – or what – could possibly make that claim? The answer is intriguing: the instrumental concerto. And do you believe the word concerto translates as a competition, a collaboration, or communication? Through a systematic exploration of this fascinating and relentlessly popular genre from its origins to its contemporary variants, you will increase your knowledge, develop your analytical competence, and enhance your performance practices. In an engaging historical examination of the concerto from the 17th-21st centuries, we will discover the multidimensional relationships the genre has with: the orchestra, the development of musical forms, and the changes in performance practices. From Corelli to Bartók, Mendelssohn to Ligeti, and from piano to trumpet, viola to percussion instruments, we will reveal the role of concertos in composers’ lives and on society. With attention to specific musical forms, the development of the orchestra, and the rivalry between authentic and modern approaches to performances, we will explore an unstopping 350-year process: the evolution of the instrumental concerto. |

| Leistungsnachweis / Testatanforderung | Regelmässige, vorbereitete Teilnahme am Unterricht (mindestens 80% Anwesenheit). Prüfung, bestehend aus drei Teilen. 1. Analysearbeit 2. Gehörbildung (Dauer: 1 Stunde, in der Gruppe) Analytisches Hören anhand verschiedener Höraufgaben. 3. Kolloquium (Dauer: 45 Minuten inkl. Besprechung, 60 Minuten Vorbereitungszeit) Gespräch anhand von Hörbeispielen und/oder Partiturausschnitten zu verschiedenen Bereichen des Studiengebietes. |
