Lernziele / Kompetenzen | ● To establish the role of film in furthering colonial as well as post-colonial ambitions. ● To understand film as a tool in the process of decolonisation. ● Learn how decolonised perspectives give birth to new creative forms of storytelling for cinema. ● To reflect on one’s own identity and how it informs the films we make. |
Inhalte | With the help of in-person and online lectures and panel discussions, you will learn from contemporary filmmakers and academics, who deploy decolonising methodologies in creating their works. They share their creative practices, shine light on the structural shortcomings of the film industry today, and express their views on how to create a more inclusive environment for global cinematic success. We view relevant decolonial films or excerpts and critically analyse them in groups. As part of the seminar there will be a couple of moments when we can workshop ideas to design a decolonised framework for our own films. |
