Inhalte | Do you have to send some fundraising applications ? to apply for scholarships or competitions? to pitch your project or to present your work on the radio, on your website, or to a promoter ? Or simply to take a step back, to reflect on your practice and reassess your goals ? To have an artist statement ready at all time is an essential tool for your career, but it can be daunting to write one. This class will give you concrete tips on how to proceed, via discussions, examples, interviews, and writing exercises, so you can leave with a first draft and key redaction skills ! Valentine Michaud was born in November 1993 in Paris and moved to Switzerland in 2010. Laureate of multiple awards (Crédit Suisse Young Artist Award 2020, Swiss Ambassador Award 2019, Prix Crédit Suisse Jeunes Solistes 2017, Jurjans Andrejs International Competition among others) and supported by prestigious foundations (Pour-Cent Culturel Migros, Leenaards Foundation, Nico Kaufmann Foundation), she performs on stages around the world (Wigmore Hall London, Lucerne Festival, MusikVerein Wienm Festival Radio France Montpellier, etc.) as a soloist with orchestras (Vienna Philharmonic, Philharmonie Zuidnederlands, Wellington Symphony Orchestra, Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, Danish National Symphony Orchestra, State Capella Orchestra St Petersburg, Moscow Philharmonic, Lucerne Alumni Ensemble, etc ) or in chamber music setting (Akmi Duo, Sibja Saxophone Quartet, Duo Gabriel & Valentine Michaud). In 2022, she becomes the first saxophonist to perform as a soloist with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of Esa-Pekka Salonen. Convinced of the richness of transdisciplinary collaborations, she founded the SIBJA collective which brings together musicians, dancers, visual artists and performers. Together, they created the performance trilogy “Waiting for Amon” (2016, 2017, 2018) as well as the film “BOTH – Le Dialogue de l’Ombre Double” (2020). Valentine also designs and makes the costumes within the collective. Since 2017, she teaches saxophone at the Conservatoire Populaire de Musique de Genève. She was also assisting Prof. Lars Mlekusch at the ZHdK in 2018 and 2019. |
