InhaltFashion reacts fast and immediately and combines as many different media as no other discipline. It is influenced by many factors, art being among the most important. Time and again, bridges between the two field have been built as well as burnt. There is an attraction between art and fashion, which is characterised by inspiration, collaboration, and "theft". In these processes, the relationship between artists and designers is constantly being reconfigured. We will analyse the position of artists in fashion. On the basis of examples, we will evaluate these encounters and discuss divisions of roles that allow for a creative exchange.

And finally, you will enter into this new field with a work of your own. We leave our habitual context, we will analyse, we will be critical, inspired, but also cheeky enough to potentially reconfigure the game.

Christoph Hefti (*1967) studied textile design at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Zurich and fashion at Central Saint Martins in London. In the 1990s, he designed for Jean-Paul Gaultier in Paris and was creative assistant to Dries Van Noten in Antwerp for 13 years. Afterwards and until now, as a freelance designer he designed fabrics for Lanvin, Balenciaga, Acne Studios and most recently for Mugler in Paris. From a young age, parallel to fashion, he created costumes for various performances, video installations and created his own performances and music. In the last few years, he has developed a great interest in hand-knotted carpets.
