InhaltOil painting is considered the supreme discipline of panel painting. Artist appreciate this technique because of its unique qualities – from the brilliance of the colours to its durability.
Despite the high esteem in which it is held, oil paint is comparatively easy to use. In this seminar, you will acquire theoretical and practical knowledge on colorants and binders, support materials, tools as well as painting processes (layering, alla prima).
Oil painting becomes more complex, and consequently more interesting, when we examine its history and its specific use by individual artists, understanding technique as an integral part of the artwork's content.

Vera Marke (*1972) is an artist, who studied at the ZHDK, and specializes in questions of conceptual painting in relation to technical implementation. She has realized several works in the context of architecture and worked as a curator. She had residences in Paris and Venice.
