Inhalt | Artists are not self-contained, autonomous individuals. The social conditions and interdependencies produced different types of artists at different times. We will take a closer look at these changing movements, which determine the image of the artist invisibly, as it were. The seminar deals with the image of the artist. The focus is on the verbal expressions of artists. Which image do they create of themselves? How do we weight such statements? And above all: What is the relationship between such statements and the work? Which social ideals and narratives influence these self-expressions? In addition, we discuss how the participants understand themselves as artists. Martin Jaeggi (*1968) is an author, editor, curator and lecturer. He studied film and video at the School of Visual Arts, New York, and at the San Francisco Art Institute. Numerous publications on contemporary art and photography in newspapers, magazines and books. Johanna Vieli (*1991) is an art historian, curator and assistant lecturer at the ZHdK. She studied at the University of Bern and Zurich. In her master's thesis she dealt with the subversive gesture of laughter in the reception of the video installations by Shana Moulton and Mika Rottenberg. Previously, she worked for the Kunsthaus Glarus and the Kunsthalle Zürich. |
