Lernziele / Kompetenzen
  • Understand and be able to apply thematic fields of coloniality, postcoloniality, de-linking and decolonization
  • Critically interrogate one's own work in relation to colonial, post- and neocolonial structures
  • Develop independent research and discourse strategies regarding sensitive content
InhalteThe seminar deals with colonial and post-colonial patterns of thought and discusses decolonization and de-linking strategies resulting from them. Texts, films and artistic projects will be collected together with all seminar participants and relevant fields of questioning and discourse will be elaborated through them. The aim will not be to convey a generally valid and universal standard knowledge but being able to better contextualize our own works and projects.

It will be very important to take into account the heterogeneous and diverse approaches and experiences of all seminar participants. Together we want to sensitize ourselves to the fact that manifold forms of coloniality and postcoloniality exist, which can be perceived in different ways - also and especially beyond the Eurocentric gaze.

We want to create an open and trustworthy atmosphere in the seminar, in which all participants can contribute without hesitation and ask all questions that concern them. Therefore, we will work out the list of guests and literature for the seminar together in advance via email communication.

About the lecturer:

Yvonne Wilhelm is an artist (part of the artist duo knowbotiq) and professor, teaching at the ZHdK MFA, who has been experimenting with forms and medialities of social imaginaries, visual regimes, and epistemic disobedience, with a certain focus on queer-feminist and post-/decolonial aspects. Her practical focus is on post-digital time-based formats, installative-performative settings, and research-led art.
