InhalteLake Urdensee is a picturesque and quiet body of water at the top of the Hörnli ridge in Graubünden. But the idyllic appearance is deceptive: It is said that Lake Urden has once been the scene of a cruel and terrible crime. According to legend, a tired and thirsty woman asked for a refreshment from a local milkman, unexplainably, he offered her a glass of poisoned milk that killed her. Even today, people tell this story and shudder at the sight of the small lake. But what if the legend of Lake Urden had actually taken place?

By immersing ourselves in the role of a special commission investigating a criminal story, we embark on a journey to unravel the mysteries surrounding the Urdensee legend: We will retrace the scenes, use forensic tools and speculative methods to gather and reproduce evidence and conduct interviews with witnesses to gain deeper insights and ultimately tell the story from a new perspective.

Inspired by real crime files from the Graubünden State Archives, workshop participants will engage in hands-on activities to create and develop archival material. We will explore narrative techniques, combining elements of forensics, historical research, and imaginative storytelling. Working together, we will build an archive that brings the legend to life, makes it tangible and thought-provoking, and reflects on the interdependence of narratives, history, and society.

Discover the power (and fun) of storytelling as we unravel the mysteries of the Lake Urdensee saga and discover its relevance for today!
