Lernziele / KompetenzenStudents learn how to deal with academic texts from a variety of sources academic, artistic and journalistic.
They become familiar with concepts in post-colonial, decolonial, intersectional feminist, and post-modern studies as it intersects with current design and visual culture.
They will be able to transfer these theoretical approaches to concrete design examples and problems.
They are able to develop a broader understanding of design from multiple perspectives.
InhalteWe live in a world that is ever changing, which is our only constant, but how have the changes in previous times affect what we see and know today? There always seems to be a post-something, whether it is post-colonial, post-modern or post-feminist. By adding post mark the end of that field of thought? Have we learnt and applied the lessons from those times? Can these theoretical frameworks be useful in design, at a company or in individual practice?

Within this course we delve into the world of theory for practical application, digging deep and wide to find connections from the fields of post-colonial, post-modern and post-feminist theory to understand past struggles and perspectives in the current landscape of design. Through an intersectional lens we probe the development of the praxis of design in the past, present and speculate on possible futures.
