Lernziele / Kompetenzen
  • Recognise and discuss transcultural and postcolonial theories and methods and geopolitical and economic contexts in the globalised art field
  • Engage in an in-depth discussion of globalised contemporary art as well as local and regional art scenes and positions
  • Sharpen their own work against this background
InhalteGlobalisation has reopened the question of centre and periphery and where and how art positions itself in this field. Instead of a guiding idea radiating from a centre, decentralisation, polyphony, and glocal problems have emerged. Global art has been dealt with in numerous exhibitions, symposia, and publications in recent years. Biennials are booming worldwide and represent important platforms for the contemporary negotiation of art. It is precisely there that conflicts and ruptures, in addition to connections, manifest themselves that are symptomatic of the new world order.
The seminar deals with topics such as theories of globalisation, colonisation and decolonisation in art, exhibitions beyond "Western art", worldwide biennialisation as well as selected art positions from different global art worlds.
