Lernziele / Kompetenzen
  • Develop a critical point of view on art and representation
  • Develop individual and powerful communication skills
  • Create and control effective tool of representation such as an artistic dossier
  • Understand the professional world as well it's connection to a more personal dimension
InhalteIn this module we will attempt to deconstruct the concept of representation in order to understand its meaning and operation in the different areas of an artist's existence. This seminar aims to be a workshop-like discussion where students investigate how to represent themselves and their own artistic production, beyond the exhibition format, in the so-called art field, not too far from everyday life. On this occasion we will focus in particular on some texts by Lee Lozano, Claire Fontaine, Josef Strau, Anthony Huberman, as well as speculating on the Vetements SS20 show.

From image dispersion, social media and Seth Price, to artist-persona, authorship and Lutz Bacher, via exclusive whatsapp chats, press releases and the Bank collective, over the past years this class has been hosting day-long special guests such as: Fredi Fischli (GTA Zürich), Maurin Dietrich (Kunstverein München), Tobias Kaspar (Artist/Provence Magazine), Annik Wetter (Photographer), Marie Lusa (Graphic Designer), Una Szeemann (Artist), Julie Boukobza (Luma Arles), Christina Lehnert (Portikus Frankfurt), Julia Moritz (Gropius Bau) and so on.

We also look at the mediality, history, and architecture of the portfolio as a powerful tool of self-re-presentation and reflection in artistic practice. Simultaneously we will explore other up and coming modes of depiction and dissemination of the work. The pool will welcoming two new external guests.
