Inhalte | The module gives an introduction to theoretical concepts and art historical-discourses, which are characteristic of the field of contemporary art. Using examples from the 20th century onwards, it shows links between art, philosophy, society and media and technological conditions. The module will be structured according to fields of concepts relevant for the study of art. The contents are selected by the lecturers according to their professional focus and the tension between present and past. Meret Kaufmann (*1989) studied art history and theatre studies at Freie Universität Berlin and University College London, where she is currently working on her doctorate. She works across research, teaching, writing and exhibition making in various institutions and projects. Gabrielle Schaad (*1982) is an art historian (PhD), freelance art critic and research associate in the BA Fine Arts at the ZHdK. Her research concerns representational criticism, transcultural movements and performative practices between art, architecture and technology. She has taught theory of architecture at the ETH Zurich and the Technical University Munich and worked as curatorial assistant at Art Museum Lucerne and Kunsthaus Zurich. |
