| Inhalte | Open Science (OS) is one of the key emerging paradigms in academic research and is becoming increasingly important for the acceptability of funding proposals. “OS is the umbrella term for all efforts aimed at achieving more openness in science and the necessary paradigm shift, e.g., open access to publications and open data.” (SNSF) Whereas the acceptance of OS is well advanced in scientific disciplines, humanities and arts scholars struggle to find an appropriate stance. On the one hand, OS has the potential to make research more collaborative and facilitate exchange across cultural boundaries; on the other, it raises questions about authorship and originality. Furthermore, the documentation requirements are often high, the benefits are not always proportionate, and in the arts in particular, OS harbours complex copyright issues that complicate the application of OS standards. In this toolbox, we will take a critical look at OS and how it can be implemented in scientific projects in art, design, music, theatre and literature, thereby getting to know central concepts, requirements, problems and offers. We will host guests who will contribute their understanding of OS and its application and thus try to support the development of individual expertise and a personal stance towards this topic. |
