Lernziele / Kompetenzen | To compose movement, to compose theatre. Through improvisation, we will establish rules, step by step, that will allow us to organise and structure movement. The students will be trained in the use of the basic materials of Space, Shape, Time, Emotions, Movement and Story in separate exercises so that they can integrate these into their work as performers. When the materials are separated in this manner, the options available to performers and directors increase exponentially. |
Inhalte | Each day will start with an intensive training based on physical theatre and floor barre exercises. The course emphasises two topics: the composition of movement, and developing the ability to deploy improvised and theoretical concepts of performance as a soloist and in an ensemble setting. This section of the workshop will include presence work (the ability of a performer to simply be maximally present on stage), horizontal composition (a non-hierarchical approach to making theatre) and new sources for stories (stories that run backwards, four different stories thrown together, finding stories in the smallest and most unglamorous sources). |
