InhalteIn the present context of wars and rearmament, and in the political struggles motivated by climate change, the question of how to resolve conflicts by peaceful means is of central importance. The field of peace building is concerned with this question. In recent years, possible contributions of artists and art to peace building are receiving growing attention. In this module, we focus on practices of non-violent civil disobedience and study the potential of the arts in contributing to such movements. Starting from examples of artist’s engagements in social movements such as the Arab Spring or the protests against the military coup in Myanmar, we think about current artistic strategies in Swiss movements for social justice and climate justice (e.g. Klimastreik, Extinction Rebellion).
