Inhalte | On a practical basis we are going to work on the artistic relationship existing between improvised music and dance improvisation. We will be exploring the various corollaries between the two art forms, seeking to draw bridges which will lead to a unified performative concept. Students will examine the dialogue between improvised music and dance improvisation within the framework of a common language predicated on core attributes. These include: reactive elements such as in learning how to listen to music or learning to see cues in the dance movements. creative vocabulary: a set of commonly learned, or practiced, or improvised dance and musical elements as basis for decision making in the context of dance composition, addressing musical narrative and dance structure at the same time. Students will be presented with a number of situations which will seek to integrate improvisational constraints, arranging cues according to the music and deal with chance, failure, order and unpredictable chaos. The format will consist of both group and solo improvisation, always accompanied by a live musician. The course will teach skills needed for an integrated approach between dance and music within an improvised setting, aiming for a higher quality of dance-music creation. Ohad Talmor is a New York based Saxophonist and Composer. A leading voice in the New York modern Jazz scene, he has performed worldwide with a who’s who of musicians, including Lee Konitz, Josh Redman, Jason Moran, Michael Brecker.
