  • Getting acquainted with contemporary philosophy
  • Understanding the constructions of in/dividuality in art and philosophy on the background of queer-feminist and anti-colonial theories
  • Assembling examples of dividuality in music, art and social life
InhalteWith art as one of its exemplary fields, individuality has been one of the key constructions in modernity. Yet, since a few decades dividuality seems to become hegemonial, with intensified exploitation and subservience taking place in contemporary control societies and machinic capitalism. Algorithms, derivatives, big data, and social media technology all contribute to desires for self-division, and at the same time serve as parts of huge accumulations of data that can be traversed dividually. There seems to be no way back to good old individuality. Yet, the good news is that this same terrain of dividuality also invites for new kinds of resistance and invention.

In the module, we will start from close readings of philosophical texts, but also listen to music, watch films and discuss art works along the lines of in/dividuality.
