Lernziele / Kompetenzen
  • Introduction to theoretical concepts and art historical discourses
InhalteThe module gives an introduction to theoretical concepts and art historical-discourses, which are characteristic of the field of contemporary art. Using examples from the 20th century onwards, it shows links between art, philosophy, society and media and technological conditions. The module will be structured according to fields of concepts relevant for the study of art. The contents are selected by the lecturers according to their professional focus and the tension between present and past.

Meret Kaufmann (*1989) studied art history and theatre studies at Freie Universität Berlin and University College London, where she is currently working on her doctorate. She works across research, teaching, writing and exhibition making in various institutions and projects.

Marcel Bleuler (PhD, *1980) works at the interface of curatorial practice and art historical research and is the Head of the PhD program at the Department Fine Arts. He studied art history at the University of Zurich and fine arts at the ZHdK. In 2013 he received his doctorate with a focus on performance and media studies at the University of Berne, where he also worked as an assistant from 2009 to 2014. He was Visiting Fellow at the Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts at Harvard University (2011/2012).
