Inhalte | This pool seminar is intended to pave the way outside of the art academy. It has been devised to inspire you and provide you with the tools to learn how to resolve artistic questions, relate to an audience and maintain a regular practice. As a group, we will refine our critical thinking as we forensically analyse, interrogate and evaluate our own work as well as the work of others. Work will be conducted in small working groups and in individual tutorials devoted to the production and analysis of "desired lines"; these lines will allow us to articulate our own paths through inherited structures, planning and external expectations. The goal is to create a crisis around entrenched positions. If only a hesitation, a questioning or a wondering, we will consider anything that helps us not to follow the beaten track of citation. We will focus on different source material, references and explore modes and aspects of exhibition making appropriate to the work you make as visual artists. To summarise in practical terms, we will present work to each other and edit each other's unfinished work. In smaller groups, we will conduct interviews, research together, share findings, and engage in continuous self-assessment. As a graduating class, we will devise strategies and tactics to foster meaningful exchange and gain confidence in our own ways of making and showing art. About the lecturer: Gianmaria Andreetta is a writer and curator, and the co-founder of the artist cooperative HTSU (Amsterdam, NL). Together with artists Angharad Williams, Laura Langer and Richards Sides, he runs The Wig (Berlin, DE). Recent and upcoming projects at Kunsthalle Fribourg, Kevin Space Vienna, DREI Mönchengladbach and Stadtgalerie Bern. |
