Inhalte | Real and digital spaces tend to merge more frequently. Like the Metaverse which is creating a digital place where something that was once before physical transcends its original form and becomes digital. Boundaries between the digital and physical world can be fluid or sharp, intuitive or difficult, comfortable or segregating and not even exist. How can we creatively work on these blurring edges? What presence, meanings, identities, new functions and behaviours do possibilities in the digital worlds imply onto our real physical world? What is our role as designers in shaping these possibilities? Are we enabling and promoting this hybridity? And what effects of digital objects and spaces bounce back onto the real world? E.g. consumption behaviours (for digital–only fashion and designs). This module aims to reflect on digitising and rematerializing things, to create new assemblages, collages and blendings, creating hybrids between physical and digital elements, objects, spaces and humans. Explorations into different 3D scanning techniques such as Lidar scan, Structured Light or Photogrammetry, as well as the use of other mediums such as videos, photos and 3D modeling will be used to capture and compose new hybrid artifacts and thus create comfortable, soft or surprising over lapses that will reflect this heterogenic relationship. |
