| Inhalte | (E) Whether as prophecy, prognosis, speculation and utopia or as a simple decision whether to pack my umbrella in the morning: We all have a relationship to the future, we are all influenced by ideas about the future, and we all influence the future. In the seminar "Decolonizing Futures - Zukünfte Dekolonisieren", we will devote ourselves to futures and the ways in which they are produced in history and the present, in the sciences and the arts, in society and the economy: we will try to find out to what extent colonial patterns of thought have shaped and continue to shape ideas of the future, and what alternative futures and ways of achieving them exist. In doing so, we are interested in both the Western European interior perspective and its emergence as the dominant and dominating model of thought, as well as other, non-Western, non-male, non-human conceptions of futures that might help us to reclaim these very futures and make them a free, communally negotiable project. The space between prognosis and speculation, as it is already laid out in the concept of science fiction itself and as it is elaborated in models, visions and practices of "Afrofuturism", "Black Quantum Futurism", "Indigenous Futurism" or "SF- Science Fiction, Speculative Fabulation", will be our guideline. A mixture of theoretical-historical and artistic texts and projects will provide the necessary depth as well as the reference to the arts and the present time. (D) Ob als Prophezeihung, Prognose, Spekulation und Utopie oder als simple Entscheidung, ob ich am Morgen den Schirm einpacken soll: Wir alle haben ein Verhältnis zur Zukunft, wir alle sind von Zukunftsvorstellungen beeinflusst und wir alle beeinflussen die Zukunft. Im Seminar «Decolonizing Futures – Zukünfte Dekolonisieren» widmen wir uns den Zukünften und den Weisen ihrer Herstellung in Geschichte und Gegenwart, in den Wissenschaften und Künsten, in Gesellschaft und Wirtschaft: Wir versuchen herauszufinden, wie sehr koloniale Denkmuster die Zukunftsvorstellungen geprägt haben und prägen, und welche alternativen Zukünfte und Wege es gibt, sie zu erreichen. Dabei interessiert uns sowohl die westeuropäisch geprägte Innenperspektive und ihr Werdegang als dominantes und dominierendes Denkmodell, als auch andere, nicht-westliche, nicht-männliche, nicht-menschliche Konzeptionen von Zukünften, die uns helfen könnten, ebendiese Zukünfte zurückzuerobern und sie zu einem freien, gemeinschaftlich verhandelbaren Gestaltungsprojekt zu machen. Der Raum zwischen Prognose und Spekulation, wie er im Begriff der Science Fiction selbst bereits angelegt ist und wie er in Modellen, Visionen und Praktiken des «Afrofuturism», «Black Quantum Futurism», «Indigenous Futurism» oder "SF- Science Fiction, Speculative Fabulation" ausgearbeitet ist, wird uns dabei Richtschnur sein. Eine Mischung aus theoretisch-historischen und künstlerischen Texten und Projekten sorgt sowohl für die nötige Tiefenschärfe wie auch für den Bezug zu den Künsten und der Gegenwart. |
