InhalteArtists are not self-contained, autonomous individuals. The social conditions and interdependencies produced different types of artists at different times. We will take a closer look at these changing movements, which determine the image of the artist invisibly, as it were. The seminar deals with the image of the artist.
The focus is on the verbal expressions of artists. Which image do they create of themselves? How do we weight such statements? And above all: What is the relationship between such statements and the work? Which social ideals and narratives indfluence these self-expressions? In addition, we discuss how the participants understand themselves as artists.

Mareike Dittmer (*1978) studied cultural and communication sciences at the UdK Berlin and was for almost 20 years involved with frieze magazine, being the co-founder and co-publisher of frieze d/e and later the associate publisher of frieze. 2019-20 she was the director of Art Stations Foundation / Muzeum Susch.
