Lernziele / Kompetenzen | • Getting acquainted with contemporary philosophy • Understanding anti-identitarian anti-racist discourses in their overlaps and transversal intertwining with other social struggles • Assembling example of incompleteness in music and social life |
Inhalte | On the basis of the new book by Stefano Harney and Fred Moten, All Incomplete, the module will assemble contemporary discourses, genealogies and politico-artistic practices of non-identitarian black study, music and social life. Harney’s and Moten’s first book "Undercommons" has been one of the most influential books of the decade, both in philosophy and in the art field. "All Incomplete" continues the winding lines of assembling anti-racist reflections, black study and post-structuralist theories of economy in a poetic and ethico-aesthetical form. Yet, (never) completing incompleteness is also a long-term topos in art production and philosophy. Consequently, we will not only read parts of Harney and Moten's writing, but also listen to music and watch films along the lines of their new book. Gerald Raunig (*1963) is a professor in the BA Fine Arts. Books in English: "Art and Revolution.
