Inhalte | After the first semester's introductory Context module focused on the “artist” and the ideas and images associated with it, the focus in the second semester shifts to the art field in which art circulates, is exhibited, distributed, traded, collected, discussed and negotiated. We look at the structures, institutions, power vectors and discourses that shape the art field and their historical background, but also how artists can relate to them, whether affirmatively or critically. This module provides an overview of the structures, institutions, and discourses that shape the art world today. Gregor Staiger (*1979) studied film, theatre and literature studies at Emerson College in Boston and at Columbia University in New York. He has been active in the field of contemporary art since 2004, and has been running his own gallery in Zurich since 2010, and is co-founder of the non-profit exhibition Paris Internationale. |
