What design can do

Six universities - American University of Beirut, American University in Cairo, Berlin University of the Arts, École Supérieure des Arts Visuels de Marrakech, Haute École d’Art et de Design, Geneva and Zurich University of the Arts - are organizing a joint project under the title "Linking Cultures" with the theme of what design can do – society, culture, economy, education, gender or environment.

Seminar (autonomous teamwork; periodical exchange of the teams in plenum presentations)
Lecturers from the different schools provide their input as a stimulus for the work of the student teams.

Lernziele / Kompetenzen
  • Stimulate inter-cultural collaboration
  • Reflection and discussion of the tasks and the future of design
  • Development of creative solutions, theoretical and practical
InhalteMixed teams from the different schools choose one or more of the above mentioned topics - society, culture, economy, education, gender or environment -, analyze and reflect on the subject, presenting their theses at the end.

The form of the results is defined by the individual teams: it can be a book, a magazine, a film, a posterseries, a comic, a podcast etc. In the final presentation, the individual teams introduce their thoughts, their proposal and a documentation of the work process.
Bibliographie / LiteraturTexts will be announced at the beginning of the seminar.
