Inhalte | Artists are not self-contained, autonomous individuals. The social conditions and interdependencies produced different types of artists at different times. We will take a closer look at these changing movements, which determine the image of the artist invisibly, as it were. The seminar deals with the image of the artist. The focus is on the verbal expressions of artists. Which image do they create of themselves? How do we weight such statements? And above all: What is the relationship between such statements and the work? Which social ideals and narratives indfluence these self-expressions? In addition, we discuss how the participants understand themselves as artists. Gregor Staiger (*1979) studied film, theatre and literature studies at Emerson College in Boston and at Columbia University in New York. He has been active in the field of contemporary art since 2004, has been running his own gallery in Zurich since 2010, and is co-founder of the non-profit exhibition Paris Internationale. |
