LehrformCooperation project with scientists from NCCR Molecular Systems Engineering Basel.
Project week with guests, input presentations, mentoring, teamwork.
ZielgruppenStudents with an interest in issues in the field of aesthetic practice and science.
InhalteCooperations between art and science have emerged as an independent field in both
disciplines. They have established and are mostly taught under formats such as ArtSci, artistic research and artistic residencies. The question of what are the result of such collaborations and what expectations artists and scientists have of them is largely unclear.
In the context of this cooperation with the ethics course of the NCCR Molecular Engineering Systems Basel (www.nccr-mse.ch), we want to explore in the project week how, among other aspects, questions of ethics in the sciences and humanities can be negotiated, thematized, and investigated by means of aesthetic practices. What can be made possible through an exchange between art and science, what can emerge from it, and what do we expect to gain from it? What can artists and scientists learn from each other and what can be learned together - perhaps better - negotiate?

The project shall enable an approach to these questions and help relate them to ethical and artistic issues. In addition to an on-site visit to the laboratories in Basel, we want to discuss these topics with guests from the relating fields of art, science, ethics and ethnography and gain insights into the experiences of artists in cooperating with scientists.
Bibliographie / LiteraturWill be announced in the project week.
