| Inhalte | Expanded Choreography (replacement course for „Choreography Practice“ with Guido Markowitz) 6.-9.4.2020, dance studios TONI-Areal The term „expanded choreography“ describes a concept of choreography in which the action ofchoreographing is disconnected from the use of human bodies. This means, in this course wepractice the motion of objects instead of the motion of dancers. However, the use ofchoreography remains the same: Generating movement material, developing movementphrases, composing a dance piece structure and arranging light, sound and stage effects. Aftera brief introduction to important works of „expanded choreography“ through video analysis,each choreographer develops individually over the week a short dance piece with objects.During this process, we will discuss the philosophy of „speculative realism“ (Graham Harman)in which objects can be released from their subordination to how they are usually used byhumans. This will give everyday objects a completely new meaning and turn them into amazingperformers of unknown movement qualities.
