Lernziele / Kompetenzen | The course is intended for all sorts of theatre students. The main goal of the course will be to help the students understand some of the most important principles of theatre creation. Often something gets lost between the original idea (or subject) and the actual staging of a theatre piece. This usually happens because in the step-by-step process that brings the idea into the stage, some of the steps are missed or misjudged. The students will learn to use their available tools (improvisation, writing, research, dialogue) to give meaning to every step of the creation. |
Inhalte | From a fixed subject (little red riding hood) every student will be required to develop his/her own short piece, 5 to 15 minutes long. The genre of the piece may vary from dance to stage theatre, from physical theatre to performance, but the students will be required to develop a dramaturgy for their work that sticks to the original objective of the creation. For the actual mise-en-scène the single student can ask other participants to play in his/her piece as “hired actors”, but everyone should remain responsible for his/her own work. No collaboration outside the course will be allowed. It is very important that the single student finds a theme he/she wants to talk about. The created piece should not only be entertaining, or impressive, but it should also look for a meaning, something that can be understood and that is related with the starting subject, that stems from it. The means of the mise-en-scène are due to stay simple, as the main focus of the course is to understand the principles of theatre creation from the point of view of an actor, director, dramaturg and not that of a costume designer, light designer, set designer. During the course, different techniques will be presented that may help overtake difficulties, or find inspiration. Guidelines will be given to support the students in their development of the original idea. |
