| Inhalte | General audience reception often perceives dance as a „brainless art form“ in which beautiful bodies flash cool moves without any meaning. This is because general audience is not usually trained in perceiving meaning in moves that are not only cool but also meaningful. For this reason, we will look in this course at the concept of choreography as a social structure „in which aspects of the social arise through physical arrangements of bodies in motion“ (Bojana Cvejíc). „Watch me do!“ is a self-reflective practice in which we analyse different styles of dancing (Ballet, Modern Dance, Folk Dance, Vernacular Dance) by finding socially constructed meaning in the kinaesthetic arrangements of human bodies. This practice will enrich our pleasure of making dances and renders choreography into an act of aesthetic and social design |
