Inhalte | Despite the term «post»-colonialism, we are in a present in which we have in no way left colonialism behind us. Coloniality and colonial patterns shape us far more than we are generally aware of – from institutional structures to the smallest of everyday practices. Often enough unspoken mechanisms in our everyday life are characterized by power relations, which ultimately go back to colonial phenomena. The question of power and how to deal with it is therefore one that reflects the old colonial structures and - often enough - reproduces them. "How to Understand Colonialism?", "How to Define Colonialism?", "How to Overcome Colonialism?" and in particular "how to appropriate a past and a present that is not colonial?": these are the guiding questions of the seminar. In addition to theoretical approaches, one's own practices should always be at the center, be it the individual practices of dealing with colonially coined structures or be it social, political and / or institutional mechanisms in which we exist, especially in the context of an art school. In our confrontation with the topic not only image production in its broadest sense, but also language plays an essential role. Where are exclusions produced? And how are these re-presented? Where can we find inclusions that are equally problematic? And who speaks? For whom? |
