Inhalte | The aim of the course is to get a glimpse of different dramaturgical strategies in contemporary theatre. What role does dramaturgy play in political theatre? What is the place of dramaturgy in devised projects? How can we develop dramaturgy in productions with a real-life, fictional, or textual basis? How can dramaturges collab-orate with actors? Different dramaturgical tools come into discussion: how can we make the front-page news of a newspaper? How can silence be used? How can we spark discussions in society? How can we write texts without using our own words? How can the overall dramaturgy of a theatre group be built up? The lectures move from political to improvisational theatre, from Brecht to institutional criticism, from opera to art projects. |

Bemerkung | Eero Epner (born in 1978) graduated from Tartu University, Estonia, as art an historian. From 2004 to 2018, he worked as a dramaturge at Theatre NO99 (from the foundation of the theatre until it closed). He was thus responsible for the dramaturgy of more than 60 productions, and he collaborated both with Estonian directors and with Sebastian Nübling, Sebastian Hartmann and others, as well as with the Munich Kammerspiele and KVS Brussels. He also worked at Kanuti Gildi SAAL, the Von Krahl Theatre, the Estonian Drama Theatre and the Ugala Theatre. In addition, he has also occasionally performed on stage and wrote texts for radio plays and the script for the TV series “The Bank” (2018, 10 episodes; also broadcast in the US, Finland etc.). Apart from curating art exhibitions and writing a number of monographs, he has also written for various publications, published art and theatre criticism and political essays, and edited (2001-2012) an art magazine and (2004-2016) a theatre magazine. He has worked as a lecturer at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, the Estonian Academy of Arts and Pallas University of Applied Sciences. |
