| Inhalte | Improvising concert violinist Tim Kliphuis returns to ZHdK for two days of String Improvisation classes. Kliphuis’ mission is to take away the barriers between genres to allow for true creativity. Examples of his work are the orchestral albums “Reflecting the Seasons” (2016) and “Concertos” (2018), both out on Sony Classical. The classes are WITH instrument. Kliphuis will focus on: 1. Classical improvisation (ear training, motivic development and composers’ techniques) 2. Rhythmic playing (the South-American clave, swing, groove and polyrhythms) 3. Harmonic awareness (the cadence, Dominant and Tonic playing, blue notes and the diminished scale) 4. Melodic awareness (phrasing, voice leading and leading notes) 5. The pentatonic scale 6. Folk and jazz styles |
