ZielgruppenBA Kunst und Medien
Lernziele / KompetenzenObserving different ways of making art, engaging in discussions with artists, becoming familiar with a variety of art spaces and their different programs and ways of existing, thinking about the role of the artist in organizing exhibitions.
InhalteThe Study Group will consist of studio visits with artists in Zürich and, during the Blockwoche, visits to different kinds of art spaces (mostly artist-run) in Zürich, Bern and Schaffhausen.

We will engage in discussions with different artists and talk about the content of their work and their working methods. We will discuss things ranging from integrating your artwork into your everyday life (balancing money jobs, studio time, family, etc.), the border between artist and person (does it exist?) and how to integrate research interests into an artistic activity (what kind of strategies do different people use, what are their working methods?).

We will also look at various off-spaces in Switzerland and how they differ from each other or what their common points are. We will discuss the role of the artist in organizing exhibitions, both in a set space or as a nomadic activity.

Marta Riniker-Radich is an artist working with drawing and installation. Her work makes use of narrative structures as a means of creating bodies of work that interrogate historical figures/situations and current social phenomena. Riniker-Radich graduated from the HEAD in Geneva in 2008 and currently lives and works between Frankfurt am Main and Zürich. Between 2011 and 2014 she ran the independent art space Hard Hat in Geneva with Balthazar Lovay and Pablo Hurtado. She has participated in various artist residencies (Istituto Svizzero, Rome; Landis & Gyr, London; Fieldwork Marfa, Texas, among others). Recent solo exhibitions include The Swiss Institute, New York, Kunsthaus Glarus and Éclair, Berlin.
