Inhalte | The course primarily addresses students of the MA in Physical Theatre at the Accademia Teatro Dimitri. It isintended as a historical and theoretical introduction to theatrical forms, whose starting point of the creative process is not a printed drama but the actor’s body on stage. We will investigate the artistic aims of the reformers who opposed the institutionalized theatre in the twentieth century – most famously epitomized byAntonin Artaud’s appeal “No more masterpieces!”, opposing “fixed” dramatic texts that belong to literature, not to the theatre. Contemporary aesthetics of Physical or Devised Theatre is indebted to the historical attempts of stage artists to constitute the theatre as an independent art form, not an animated library. We note that the word“drama” is derived from a Greek verb simply meaning “to do/act”. In this sense the aim of the course is to train our ability to think theatrically. The theory will observe the practice: Students will be asked to present their master projects in the seminar, offering their ideas, influences, artistic aims for debate in the group. Can we find a common aesthetic in the different projects? A theatre of creative actors, cre/-attori? |
