| Inhalte | The Institute of Global Solitude is an institute dedicated to the study and promotion of loneliness. Its headquarters are in Fribourg, Switzerland. For one week-end in June 2018 it opens its doors to the public to present its exploration of the phenomenon of loneliness as a symptom of contemporary society: on the one hand, loneliness as a symptom of dysfunction in society; on the other, isolation chosen as an act of emancipation. The Institute of Global Solitude is an in situ creation by the Greek collective blitztheatregroup, premiered at the Belluard Festival in 2018. It is an event that blurs the lines between documentation and fiction, between performance, celebration and exhibition. Students join a group of local artists who develop various performative forms for the event together and around the theme of loneliness in the given narrative and formal setting invented and led by blitztheatregroup. It is a collective creation that also gives space to individual artistic expression. It is created in situ in Fribourg in the building that will be the Institute of Global Solitude for the duration of a week-end. Students participate in the design and development of the event on all levels: texts, creation of the space, performance and acting, etc. |
