Inhalte | This module will trace artistic practices that centre language as a medium. Rather than language being a component within a material practice, this course will trace artwork that uses language as the material itself. From Art & Language to Emily Pope, the module will combine both seminars as well as writing workshops. Art can be viewed as an alternative to language, another form of communication. With this in mind, what do artworks that take language as their material form offer that is separate from the standard communication through language which we are accustomed to? How can art-as-language rupture the limits inherent in spoken and written communication and engage in alternative productions of meaning? Rózsa Farkas is the founder and director of Arcadia Missa, a gallery and independent publisher focusing on “contemporary art with intent.” She is also an occasional writer and independent publisher. |
