Inhalte | This 4 days seminar is dedicated in priority to the graduating students busy and struggling with the elaboration of their written, discursive paper, textually and visually. The class is based on the students’ drafts, endeavors, ideas and questions. On the one hand, there will be a shared time to discuss and exchange on literature and artists' writing, together with ZHdK MFA alumni artist Leila Peacock. How to find the form for an idea by looking at various different examples of discursive writing by artists, with a special focus on artistic takes on the essay? On the other hand, reflections will be conducted on graphic design serving and playing with art, as well as thoroughly analyzing and looking at seminal artists’ books, together with designers Nicolas Eigenheer, Noémie Gygax and Jeremy Schorderet. The written, discursive paper must be produced during the fall semester 2017 (HS17). Students should choose their own topic, question or dilemma. The paper must demonstrate the candidate’s ability to address and critically discuss the chosen topic, question or dilemma. Experimental formats are possible, but all submissions must include a written, discursive part. Papers should relate to the student’s individual practice. |
