Termin: Marius Schaffter: The lecture – performing sciences A lecture is basically the situation in which a person is holding a speech in front of people, aiming at presenting analysing or criticizing an object of study. It is the canonic form of communication in the academic world and also in business and marketing. Initially used among specialists, lectures appear to be more and more a tool to pass ideas on to a broader audience. They also get more staged and directed, just like theatre performances. Simultaneously, the lecture has become a very common form in art practices, and moreover in the performing arts, because it makes it possible to have a direct contact to the audience with very simple means. During this day, we’ll go through different examples of lectures, academic ones and artistic ones. We’ll try to understand what a lecture really is, what is at stake in these situations and what are its potentials for performance. We’ll see that just like theatre, lectures have to do with communication, meaning and power. And maybe also even death and love. Marius Schaffter was born in 1980. He lives and works in Geneva as a performer, dramaturge, scientist and dancer. In 2015 he founded the collective Old Masters with Jérôme Stünzi. They created Constructionisme, a performative conference which connects building, analysis and dissection of objects of studies. In 2015 Contructionisme won “Premio, the supporting prize for scenic arts” and has toured in 2015-2016 in Switzerland and in France. In May 2016, Old Masters created Fresque, a theater piece about artistic creation, love and death at the TU – Théâtre de l’usine in Geneva. Marius Schaffter also collaborates with Gregory Stauffer. In 2014, they created together a piece to establish their duo in the art field and celebrate their friendship within the full potentiality of the theater space: Introducing Schaffter & Stauffer. The piece toured in Switzerland, France, Netherlands and Russia. As a dramaturge, Marius Schaffter also participated in different pieces of Gregory Stauffer: 2/3 series (with Bastien Gachet, 2010-2015) and Walking (2015). In 2013 Marius Schaffter graduated at the École de Théâtre Serge Martin in Geneva. Before, he took classes in Dance Studies at the University of Bern in 2007-2008. He holds a Master degree in Geography and Social sciences (University of Geneva, 2005). He also worked there as a research and teaching assistant with a focus on spatial practices and pragmatic linguistics (2007-2010). www.oldmasters.ch 2. Termin: Mexiko aus der Sicht der Theaterwissenschaftlerin und Filmemacherin Dr. Janina Möbius Anhand von den drei Filmen "Götter aus Fleisch und Blut", "Lotería" und "Apfelstrudel" berichtet die Theaterwissenschaftlerin und Filmemacherin Janina Möbius von Mexiko und ihren diversen Forschungs- und Filmarbeiten dort. Thematisch wird es dabei vom mexikanischen Wrestling Lucha Libre, über Kindermädchen und Migranten zu deutschen Spuren in Mexiko bis hin zu Theater in Jugendgefängnissen in Mexiko City gehen. Janina Möbius forscht mit wissenschaftlichen und filmischen Mitteln zu kulturellen Phänomenen in Lateinamerika und Europa. Mit der Produktionsfirma la paloma documentaries realisiert sie eigene Filme und medienpädagogische Projekte. Sie studierte Theater-, Film- und Fernsehwissenschaften und Romanistk an der Freien Universität Berlin, an der Universidad de Granada (Spanien) und an der Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Mexiko-Stadt. Ihren ersten Dokumentarfilm "Götter aus Fleisch und Blut" über das mexikanische Wrestling Lucha Libre realisierte sie 1995 in Mexiko. Für ihre in Deutschland und Mexiko publizierte Arbeit "Und unter der Maske … das Volk. Lucha Libre – ein mexikanisches Volksspektakel zwischen Tradition und Moderne" hat sie einige Jahre in der Welt der maskierten Ringer und Volkshelden wie El Santo, der mit der Silbermaskeverbracht. Mithilfe eines DAAD-Stipendiums promovierte sie 2002 am Institut für Theaterwissenschaft der Freien Universität Berlin zu diesem Thema. Danach arbeitete sie vier Jahre in dem Forschungsprojekt der Volkswagen-Stiftung Struktur und Funktion interkultureller Austauschprozesse im zeitgenössischen Volkstheater Mexikos, Kolumbiens und Perus unter der Leitung von Prof. Dr. Erika Fischer-Lichte. Zwei Jahre davon dienten der Feldforschung und Kongressorganisation in Lateinamerika. |
