InhalteThe course is a hands-on workshop with collective exchanges and self-practicing. We will explore the art of field recording. First, we will experiment with mobile sound recording devices and the open-source software Audacity to edit your recordings. This is very basic know-how that you can use for any art projects. Then you will work on DIY techniques of recording, building contact microphones in some cases, or using recycled analog devices in other cases, or other experiments by yourself or in a group. You might also wish to work on the sonic aspects of your own projects, or do some artistic research in that field.
It's important to know that the course won't be about sonic perfection, professional sound technics, learning music softwares. Instead you will explore different attitudes towards technology, experiment with failures, noises, self-built or recycled devices, record the inaudible, make recordings outside the sound studio, and also find a playful and critical artistic attitude towards sound practices.
